Martha Beck, Ph.D.,

is a life coach and monthly columnist for O, The Oprah Magazine. She has taught career development at the American Graduate School of International Management and was research assistant to Dr. John Kotter at Harvard Business School. Kym provided a soft place for me to land and a level head while mine was spinning out of control. I loved the way she helped me see the obvious things that were so huge in front of my eyes, but I couldn’t see. ….A Little More About Me……….

This work has saved me- I first heard of Martha Beck while reading one of the very first editions of “O” The Oprah Magazine. The instant I saw her title, “Life Coach” I knew that was for me. I have been an Registered Nurse since 1980 and always loved the opportunity to experience relationships of every kind. My best friend says that when the two of us go somewhere for a massage, she spends the entire sixty minutes in silence creating a sacred, revitalizing environment for herself. But I come out of the room knowing every detail about the massage therapist’s life. That IS my revitalization. I started working with Martha in 2003 when I was still desperately trying to make sense of my life. I can honestly say that it has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. I actually LIKE myself again and at 54 am comfortable in my own skin for the first time in my life. Not perfect by any means, but definitely a work in progress….and adoring the journey. I am a whole person, connected to my feelings and the thoughts that produce them.


I love Coaching-Life coaching is life to me…literally. IT HAS BROUGHT LIFE TO ME! I absolutely light up when I am able to help someone shift their thinking and eliminate suffering in their life. I love the tools I have learned by studying with some of the most brilliant minds on the planet. And I can’t wait to share them with you.

• I am a mom with two married children-both who have been through the heartache of divorce.
• I am a grandma (known actually as “KK”) of three gorgeous little creatures who turn me into a fool when I’m with them
• I am an entrepreneur. I co-own two businesses, a home care agency since 1998 and a little café since 2008
• Did I say I love life coaching??
• I grew up and currently live in the spectacular four-season state of Michigan-I always say fall is my favorite-the colors are spectacular- until spring, then I say spring is-with the tulips and daffodils, but I love the sparkling snow, too and then there’s the green summers and the smell of fresh-cut grass…I just love it all.
